We had a Tuesday halloween dance where the cloggers wore orange and/or black. For the Monday and Thursday evening parties the theme this year as 50s. Lots of great outfits! And lots of fun dances.
A modified CLOG-toberfest took place this year. The floor only had space for 18 dancers so attendance with limited to our club and Footwerx! dancers. Sessions were almost at capacity. Birgit, Adele Brewer and Donna Bruce taught the dances as travelling is not allowed so we couldn't get outside instructors. The dancers had fun with all of the dances taught at the three sessions.
The floor is marked for spacing everyone apart. The city has approved our club covid precautions. Masks are worn when not dancing. We are OK with all of it as long as we can dance.
This year we could not have our annual potluck BBQ at Birgit's house so instead we went to West River's Edge at the Lions' Fishpond and had a picnic lunch and social. Funky Mango Food Truck came and supplied us with delicious burgers and potato salad. It was a hot (+30) sunny day. All that came had a great time. Even with distancing it was nice just to get together and have a visit. Birgit's new puppy Olive joined the event too.
Birgit turned 60 in July. With big bashes not allowed the cloggers joined her for a picnic lunch to celebrate the occasion. A covid friendly cupcake cake was enjoyed by all.
Our covid project was a video that included all the cloggers that wanted to participate. Clearly Canadian seemed to be a great choice for the song with our club colours. We released it on Canada Day so that all could enjoy it online since there were no festivities in parks this year. The video was filmed in various locations in Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park. With clogging classes cancelled mid-March due to the covid pandemic the cloggers were missing not only the dancing but also seeing each other. Some of the Tuesday group met at West River's Edge Pavilion for a picnic lunch distance visit. Everyone brought their own food and drink and lawnchairs. All had a great time catching up.
