As of January 2023 we are back in the venue, the Kensington Communtiy Hall, where the club started in 1990. The Kensington Strollers is a Choreographed Ballroom dance. Choreographed Ballroom dancing may be referred to as Round Dancing and is dancing where all those taking part do the same steps at the same time to the calls given by the Cuer. The steps which are previously learned enable the dancers to dance many different dances written to a variety of songs or music without having to remember all the steps to each individual dance. We dance to the following rhythms: cha, fox trot, jive, rumba, slow two-step, two-step, and waltz. The dances are “called” in English and round dance clubs are found in many provinces of Canada; B.C., Saskatchewan, Ontario to name a few and in many countries; such as the U.S.A., Australia, Japan, Sweden, and Germany. The Kensington Strollers led by instructors Audrey and Glen Eliasson, started in 1990. Audrey and Glen have attended, cued, and taught at over Twenty-five Alberta Federation Provincial Conventions, attended, cued and taught at over thirteen Canadian National Conventions and a number of B.C. Provincial Conventions. In addition they have lead round dance clinics in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and numerous Alberta locations.
