Beginners through to Phase V (Waltz, 2 Step, Rumba, Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Jive, Single Swing, Bolero, Slo Two Step, Quick Step, West Coast Swing, Mambo, Tango) Experience/Clubs/InterestsBruce & I started dancing 1991 and started Cueing/Instructing in 2010.
The “Fun Steps” Club was started in 1992 by Myrna & Harold Elliot, when they retired from teaching we were asked to take on the club. Classes are for beginners through Phase V. Bruce & I travelled to Calgary once a week to cue and teach for the Cue Steps for a 2 year period when their long time instructors retired. We have been on the Alberta Convention Round Dance Program since we started cueing/teaching along with National Conventions. We have also been the Round Dance Coordinators for several of the Alberta Conventions, along with the 2024 Canadian National Festival held in Calgary, AB. We were the Instructors/Cuer for the 2019 Alberta Jamboree and continue supporting the local association dances. Bruce & Mary have led a Phase III/IV Weekend Workshop/Dance at the Holiday Ranch since 2022 and look forward to many more weekend workshop/dances. We are currently planning a Phase II/III Weekend at the Ranch to be held August 7,8,9, 2026. In 2023, we led a week long Cuer's School sponsored by SRDIAA. It was attended by 6 new cuer couples along with 3 more experienced cuer couples. In 2025, we led a 3 day Cuer's School sponsored by British Columbia Square & Round Dance Federation held in Langley BC. It was attended by 9 new cuers. We enjoy being able to travel and dance to other Cuers/Instructors. |
