By the time you read this in print, we'll be halfway thru the winter semester.. Luke and Lucys again combined with eXtra Dance for a big Christmas party and fundraiser on 13 Dec. In lieu of admission, the eight squares of generous dancers donated $722 for YESS; $555 for Food bank, and from the club treasury $300 to Adopt-a-Teen. Yes that means that one or more dancers personally anted up over $100. Thank you all! Our numbers held up well during the fall with 5 or 6 squares. Maybe some snowbirds are toughing it out in Alberta. We hope to do as well this semester. Our combined windup dance should be on 2 May.. similar pattern as a voluntary fundraiser for Camp He Ho Ha, who are always most grateful for your efforts. Reminders and details should be appearing in emails from CDCDA. Thanks to the helpful elves who sign up to oversee our refreshment counter on our dance nights. Remember to take a turn -look for the signup list. We want to make it as easy as possible for those who let their names stand for executive positions by taking care of the more mundane chores. We plus clubs need to help feed in new dancers, so we can ultimately replace ourselves at the Plus level. Gary and Eileen Smith have made a big investment in time, talent and cash to offer the NEST program for training new dancers on an as-available basis, and that needs volunteer 'narrators' as coaches. Hint Hint! Sadly, we have to mark the passing of Hazel Paradis in early January. She and Norm have been steady supporters of our lub for decades. October 2018 By the time you read this, we'll be well into our new season, which started Thursday 4 Oct. Same timing, same location: Plus level beginners/workshop from 7 PM, full Plus after 8.30 PM; at St Edmund's church hall 132 Ave and 116 1/8 St, Edmonton. Our instructor, Wayne Russell, and we will alternate Thursday Plus with Extra Dance and Murray Few. Lukes and Lucys, with snacks, take the first, third and fifth Thursdays.
We wound up last season with a fund raiser dance for Camp He Ho Ha. Our generous patrons , and club treasury, provided over 2000 dollars to this summer camp facility for handicapped folk. It will be hard to beat that record; though we'll try at our Christmas fundraiser, Thursday 13 Dec. Bring potluck snacks for the after-party, FREE entry.
