We always enjoy bringing our dancing to seniors living in the facilities in our area. Residents at Rivercrest enjoyed our lively music, great dancing and fun outfits. Thanks to all the club members that came out to dance for them! It was a fun morning of dancing and then lunch at Pots Bar and Grill. The weather was cold and people are busy in December so the party was small but the ones there had a great time Seventeen members of the Blizzard Cloggers traveled to Austin, Texas for the 28th CLOG National Convention. We toured the city before and after the convention and had fun dancing and learning lots of new songs. Our adventures included touring the Texas State Capital Building, a cave tour north of Austin, some great Texas BBQs. We stopped at Buc-ee's. It's a huge convenience store. HUGE!! Then on to San Antonio to see the Riverwalk, the Alamo and stop at Gruene Hall on the way home. It's Texas's oldest dance hall. We alse squeezed in a boat trip on the Colorado River that flows through Austin and lastly a Pub Crawl on 2 pedal bikes that held all of our group. We all have lots of great memories of this trip This year's Halloween theme was Hippy, 1960s. We had lots of flower children attending. Tye dye tops and even some 60s housewives. Great food too! For the Tuesday Halloween dance everyone dressed in organge and black. Then we enjoyed lunch out. Our 24th Annual CLOG-toberfest was a success. We had Barb Bizovie from Kelowna, BC as our guest instructor along with Birgit, Adele Brewer and Donna Bruce teaching a dance each to give Barb a break. Everyone enjoyed the dancing and being able to get together again. This was our first time dancing in the new Cloverbar Lodge in Sherwood Park. It's a beautiful facility and the residents enjoyed our lively dancing and music. Our first 2 weeks of classes are review and dance classes. It gets everyone warmed up for the new season and the instructors get to warm up to cueing and teaching again. These are also Open House nights and guests are always welcome! One of the Thursday night classes we had Barb Bizovie, an instructor from Kelowna, BC, join us. |
