Then, about 2 May, we have our windup, and fundraiser for Camp He Ho Ha, a summer camp for those with any kind of disability, which has long waiting lists. Check out http://camphehoha.com/. Luke and Lucys again combined with eXtra Dance for a big Christmas party and fundraiser on 13 Dec. In lieu of admission, the eight squares of generous dancers donated $722 for YESS; $555 for Food bank, and from the club treasury $300 to Adopt-a-Teen. Yes that means that one or more dancers personally anted up over $100. Thank you all! Our numbers held up well during the fall with 5 or 6 squares. Maybe some snowbirds are toughing it out in Alberta. We hope to do as well this semester. Our combined windup dance should be on 2 May.. similar pattern as a voluntary fundraiser for Camp He Ho Ha, who are always most grateful for your efforts. Reminders and details should be appearing in emails from CDCDA. Thanks to the helpful elves who sign up to oversee our refreshment counter on our dance nights. Remember to take a turn -look for the signup list. We want to make it as easy as possible for those who let their names stand for executive positions by taking care of the more mundane chores. We plus clubs need to help feed in new dancers, so we can ultimately replace ourselves at the Plus level. Gary and Eileen Smith have made a big investment in time, talent and cash to offer the NEST program for training new dancers on an as-available basis, and that needs volunteer 'narrators' as coaches. Hint Hint! Sadly, we have to mark the passing of Hazel Paradis in early January. She and Norm have been steady supporters of our lub for decades. It will be hard to beat that record; though we'll try at our Christmas fundraiser, Thursday 13 Dec. Bring potluck snacks for the after-party, FREE entry. From January edition of the promenader;
Lukes and Lucys have enjoyed good attendance this fall.. It's great to have a square or more of new or reviewing Plus dancers every Thursday at 7 pm. Our FREE fundraising Christmas dance was well attended by very generous dancers.. 8+ squares donated $ 1210 to YESS [ Youth Empowerment and Support Services]; $315 to the food bank. From the club coffers we were able to give $300 to Adopt-a-Teen as well. We're looking for an outlet where all fundraising clubs could get wider publicity for their 'good works." We've started the spring session on Jan_4; after dodging windchills of minus 40 during our Christmas recess.
